20 things we learned from Week 8 injury report

The Jets center Nick Mangold is officially doubtful for Sunday's game against the Raiders.

Mangold suffered a neck injury against the Patriots last weekend. Safety Calvin Pryor, wideouts Devin Smith and Chris Owusu, and running back Bilal Powell have all been ruled out. Wideout Eric Decker, cornerback Buster Skrine and guard Willie Colon are all questionable.

Catch up on the rest of Friday's injury news below:

  1. Titans rookie signal-caller Marcus Mariota (knee) will not play Sunday against the Texans, the team confirmed. Coach Ken Whisenhunt said Mariota made a lot of progress during the week but not enough for them to play him. Second-year quarterback Zach Mettenberger will start for the second-straight week in his absence. Cornerback Perrish Cox (hamstring) and wideout Harry Douglas (ribs) are also out. Cornerback Jason McCourty (groin) was limited.
  1. Chargers tight end Antonio Gates (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game. Safety Eric Weddle (groin) and linebacker Manti Te'o (ankle) are out officially.
  1. Adrian Peterson (hip, finger, ankle) is good to go for the Vikings on Sunday after nursing a slew of minor injuries, coach Mike Zimmer confirmed Sunday.
  1. Ben Roethlisberger (knee) is probable for Sunday against the Bengals. The team will be without the help of defensive end Stephon Tuitt (knee), safety Will Allen (ankle), backup quarterback Mike Vick (hamstring) and linebacker Terence Garvin (knee). Cornerback William Gay (shoulder) is probable.
  1. Dez Bryant (foot) is officially questionable for the Cowboys against the Seahawks.
  1. Browns quarterback Josh McCown (shoulder) is questionable. Coach Mike Pettine said he is prepared to use both McCown and backup Johnny Manziel on Sunday against the Cardinals. Browns safety Tashaun Gipson (ankle) said he will play Sunday despite being listed as questionable, according to the Akron Beacon Journal.
  1. Niners running back Carlos Hyde (foot) has been ruled out. Wideout Anquan Boldin's hamstring tightened up during Thursday's practice, keeping him from practicing Friday, added Tomsula. He will also be a game-time decision and is officially questionable.
  1. Cardinals wideout John Brown is questionable with a hamstring injury for the third-straight week. He played the last two while nursing a similar injury, but coach Bruce Arians said earlier this week that they'd like to get him to full health for later in the season. This makes him less likely to play this week than in the previous two. Tight end Darren Fells (shoulder) and linebacker Alex Okafor (calf) are out.
  1. Giants cornerback Prince Amukamara (pectoral) is out for Sunday. Linebacker Jon Beason (ankle) is questionable. Wideout Odell Beckham (hamstring), guard Geoff Schwartz (ankle) and linebacker Uani Unga (neck) are all probable.
  1. Panthers center Ryan Kalil (ankle), linebacker Shaq Thompson (knee), defensive end Mario Addison (shoulder) and defensive tackle Dwan Edwards (ankle) did not practice Friday ahead of their Monday night clash against the Colts.
  1. Falcons wideout Leonard Hankerson (hamstring) and safety William Moore (groin) have been ruled out for Sunday against the Buccaneers.
  1. J.J. Watt returned to practice from a back injury and is "ready to go" for Sunday against the Titans, according to coach Bill O'Brien. He is officially questionable.
  1. Giants pass-rusher Jason Pierre-Paul won't make the trip to New Orleans with the Giants as expected.
  1. Buccaneers wideout Vincent Jackson (knee) did not participate at practice. Tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins (shoulder) was limited. Both offensive players are doubtful for Sunday.
  1. Bears linebacker Shea McClellin (knee) missed all three practices this week and is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Vikings, according to the Chicago Tribune.
  1. Ravens safety Tray Walker (concussion) is out for Sunday's game. Tackle Eugene Monroe (shoulder) did not participate at practice and is listed as doubtful.
  1. The Jets activated running back Stevan Ridley from the PUP list, waiving wideout Chris Owusu to make room for him on the roster. Ridley is returning from ACL and MCL surgery.
  1. Linebacker Shane Ray has been ruled out with a knee injury for the Broncos. Offensive tackle Ty Sambrailo (shoulder) is doubtful.
  1. Packers wideout Ty Montgomery (ankle), running back James Starks (hip) and defensive tackle B.J. Raji (groin) are all questionable for Sunday against the Broncos.
