Aaron Jones, Vikings agree to two-year, $20 million extension

Aaron Jones is running it back with the Minnesota Vikings.

Jones and the Vikings have agreed to terms on a two-year, $20 million deal, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Sunday.

The deal, which was announced by the club, includes $13 million guaranteed.

Though the Vikings' 2024 starting quarterback, Sam Darnold, is expected to move on from Minnesota, there will be some stability in the backfield as Jones is set to return after rushing for 1,138 yards last year.

A 2024 signee following seven seasons with the rival Green Bay Packers, Jones fit well in head coach Kevin O'Connell's offense, tallying five touchdowns on the ground and two receiving in addition to a career-high rushing total.

Despite having some issues holding onto the ball (five fumbles), Jones started 17 games and enters his age-31 season looking good health-wise.

He previously stated he’d prefer to end his career carrying the ball for the Vikings, and Sunday's news gives him a chance to do just that, while also checking off a box for the Vikings in a pivotal offseason.
