Ankle injury ends season for Broncos starting DT Vickerson

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- The Denver Broncos placed starting defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson on season-ending injured reserve with an ankle injury Monday and added fullback Quinn Johnson off waivers from the Tennessee Titans.

Vickerson was hurt Sunday during the Broncos' 29-24 loss to the San Diego Chargers. He signed a two-year, $4.75 million deal last winter after making 12 starts last season, his first in Denver.

Johnson is a third-year pro who has played in two dozen NFL games, including all five of the Titans' games this year. He played his first two seasons in Green Bay, which selected him in the fifth round of the 2009 draft out of LSU.

Acquired in a Sept. 3 trade from the Packers, Johnson was released Friday by the Titans to make room for the return of fullback Ahmard Hall from a four-game suspension.
