D'Andre Swift's 2026 season will not be a contract year after all.
The Chicago Bears and Swift have agreed to a three-year, $33.75 million extension that includes $27.5 million in guaranteed money, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Friday.
The extension provides Swift with a raise of more than $3 million in average annual salary and secures the running back's services through his age-30 season (2029) while also locking down a quality running back at a rate that fits Swift's production and is also friendlier to the Bears' salary cap management.
Swift began his career in Detroit as a 2020 second-round pick out of Georgia and never quite progressed to a stage that warranted an extension with the Lions, who traded Swift to Philadelphia in 2023. After enjoying a career-best year (1,263 scrimmage yards, six total touchdowns) with the Eagles, Swift moved to Chicago, signing a three-year, $24 million deal with the Bears in 2024.
Since then, Swift has proven himself as a reliably productive weapon, averaging 1,365.5 scrimmage yards in his first two seasons with the Bears and forming one half of a contrasting tandem with bruising back Kyle Monangai last season.
With Swift in the window to sign one more lucrative deal and the final year of his existing contract beginning in 2026, Bears general manager Ryan Poles made sure to sign his top back before the season began. They'll kick off their 2026 journey on Sunday against the Panthers with one less financial matter on their checklist.
