It's been quite the year for Buffalo Bills superstar quarterback Josh Allen.
Highlighted heavily in the season premiere of Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday night, Allen had a year for the ages that included marrying actress Hailee Steinfeld, signing a massive extension and winning his first AP NFL Most Valuable Player.
Allen, however, made it clear that winning an MVP pales in comparison to his ultimate NFL goal of winning a Super Bowl.
"Being mentioned for MVP means your team is doing really well, probably in the hunt for the playoffs, and you're doing your job," he said on Hard Knocks. "It doesn't change my life to have that accolade or to have more of those accolades. The only thing that I'm worried about is doing everything I can to bring a Lombardi Trophy here."
The only NFL franchise to have ever advanced to four consecutive Super Bowls, the Bills are still in search of their first Lombardi Trophy. Following the four trips to the big game from 1990 through 1993, Buffalo has yet to return.
Allen and the current rendition have made the Bills perennial contenders, though, having now gone to the playoffs six straight campaigns with a quintet of consecutive AFC East titles. During two of those playoff runs, Allen and the Bills made it to the AFC Championship Game, losing on both occasions to the Kansas City Chiefs. Such was the case to conclude the 2024 season.
2024 saw Allen throw for 3,731 yards and 28 touchdowns, while adding 531 yards and 12 TDs on the ground. It was Allen's fifth consecutive season with 40-plus offensive TDs -- the most in NFL chronicle.
"He just elevates every single year," Pro Bowl offensive tackle Dion Dawkins said of his quarterback on Tuesday's episode.
What a year it was for Allen, 29, and the hope is that the year ahead will be even better.
Admittedly, though, Allen's highlight of the past year was one that shines as the brightest of his life.
"Got married May 31st," Allen said on Hard Knocks. "I don't know if people know that, but that was best night of my life, honestly. And my wife's life, I think; that's what she says."
Another massive extension? Check.
First career MVP? Check.
Marrying the love of his life? Check.
Leading the Bills to the franchise's first Super Bowl triumph? To be determined in 2025.
Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Buffalo Bills premieres at 6 p.m. ET Tuesday nights on HBO/HBO Max.
