The Denver Broncos have added a high-profile member to the front office.
The team announced on Thursday that it has named former Stanford head coach David Shaw as a senior personnel executive.
Shaw, the winningest coach in Stanford history, stewarded the Cardinal from 2011 to 2022 when he stepped down. A four-time Pac-12 Coach of the Year, Shaw earned 96 wins, three Pac-12 titles and a pair of Rose Bowl victories.
Stanford produced 42 NFL Draft picks and six first-round selections under Shaw: Andrew Luck (2012, No. 1), David DeCastro (2012, No. 24), Andrus Peat (2015, No. 13), Joshua Garnett (2016, No. 28), Solomon Thomas (2017, No. 3) and Christian McCaffrey (2017, No. 8).
Since stepping aside in 2022, Shaw has sought to return to the NFL, where he was an assistant for nine seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, Oakland Raiders and Baltimore Ravens. Shaw interviewed for the Broncos head coaching job in 2023, building a relationship with Denver GM George Paton from there.
Shaw and Broncos head coach Sean Payton were both assistants on the 1997 Eagles club -- Shaw as a quality control coach and Payton as the QBs coach.
Joining Denver's front office, Shaw is expected to evaluate both college and NFL talent for the Broncos.
