The trade chatter surrounding New York Giants edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux continues to be a popular topic.
The former first-round pick seemed ticketed out of New York after the Giants selected Abdul Carter with the third-overall pick last year. With Big Blue also having Brian Burns under contract long-term, paying Thibodeaux big money seems a nonstarter.
The Giants elected to hang onto the pass rusher at last year's trade deadline. Thibodeaux is now entering the fifth year of his rookie contract, which is slated to pay him $14.751 million. If New York is to trade him, his value won't be higher.
General manager Joe Schoen was asked this week at the NFL Scouting Combine about Thibodeaux's future in New York.
"Right now, Kayvon's going to be with us," Schoen said, via ESPN. "He played well. He is going into his fifth year and he's motivated and you can't have enough pass rushers. You really can't. So I'm proud of the development and the maturation of Kayvon and he's come a long way. And I expect big things out of him next year with that rotation."
Schoen noted that he received trade calls about the pass rusher last year, but elected to press forward. Sitting with seven draft picks, trading Thibodeaux would provide draft assets, as well as open up nearly $15 million that the Giants -- who don't currently have a lot of cap space -- could use to plug more glaring holes on the roster.
"My job as a general manager is if people come and they ask if we'd be interested in trading, if we're interested in their players, you take into consideration everything," he said. "Doesn't mean we're going to do it, but we're always going to listen. That's my job."
In four seasons with the Giants, Thibodeaux has generated 23.5 total sacks. He earned a career-low 2.5 in 10 games in 2025.
