Injuries: Leonard Fournette won't play versus Panthers

Jacksonville Jaguars fans will have to wait at least another week to catch Leonard Fournette in game action again.

Jaguars coach Doug Marrone announced Monday that the fourth-overall pick will be among the player who won't suit up for Thursday's preseason contest against the Carolina Panthers. Fournette sat out last week's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because of a foot injury.

Marrone may be taking the safe route with his budding star of a rookie running back. Fournette told reporters last week he could have played against the Bucs if it were necessary and said he was confident he'd be ready to roll by the Jags' Sept. 10 season opener against the Houston Texans.

Fournette isn't the only player who'll be sidelined for the Jaguars this week. Marrone also ruled out running back T.J. Yeldon (hamstring), wide receiver Marqise Lee (leg) and tight end Mychal Rivera (wrist) and cornerback A.J. Bouye (undisclosed) also won't play against the Panthers.

Here are some other injuries we've been tracking on Monday:

  1. Cleveland Browns teammates Isaiah Crowell and Nate Orchard did not play against the New York Giants as they continue to deal with groin injuries suffered in Thursday's practice.

Linebacker Tank Carder suffered a knee injury and did not return.

  1. Arizona Cardinals wide receiver John Brown (quad) returned to practice.
  1. Denver Broncos coach Vance Joseph (knee) said veteran running back Jamaal Charleswill play against the Green Bay Packers on Saturday.
  1. Tight endEric Ebron remains out for the Detroit Lions as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury.
  1. Giants wideout Odell Beckham, Jr. jogged to the locker room after taking a low hit during the second quarter of Monday night's game against the Browns and did not return. The team said he suffered a sprained ankle.

Wideout Brandon Marshall is getting x-rays on his shoulder.
