Injuries: Marcus Smith (hamstring) out 2-3 weeks

Marcus Smith will miss two to three weeks after he was carted off the field with a tweaked hamstring Thursday.

The Philadelphia Eagles first-round pick in 2014 told reporters Friday he expects to be back on the field before the regular season starts, per the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Whether he will see the field once those games start is a separate issue for the linebacker, who was vying for a backup role after being nonexistent as a rookie. Missing preseason games will not help his cause.

With Smith out, the Eagles are low on outside linebackers, forcing inside 'backers Brad Jones and Emmanuel Acho to cross-train and defensive end Vinny Curry to stand up in a linebacker role on occasion.

Here are other injuries we're keeping tabs on:

  1. Redskins linebacker Adam Haywardwill miss the regular season after tearing the ACL in his right knee. The backup inside linebacker was injured during the Redskins' preseason win against the Lions on Thursday.
  1. Bills wide receiver Chris Hogan suffered a knee sprain during Thursday's preseason win over the Browns and will miss the next two to four weeks, according to The Buffalo News. He was injured while catching a pass from Tyrod Taylor during the first quarter.
  1. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin announced that second-round pick Senquez Golson will be out indefinitely after having shoulder surgery on Friday morning.
  1. The Cardinals announced they've placed defensive tackle Corey Peters (Achilles tendon) on injured reserve.
  1. Josh McCown injured his right ring finger during the Browns' loss Thursday, but coach Mike Pettine told reporters Friday "he was checked out this morning" and that the quarterback was "good to go." X-rays on McCown's hand reportedly were negative.
  1. Right guard Larry Warford and defensive tackle Caraun Reid left Thursday's game with ankle injuries. Per ESPN, Lions coach Jim Caldwell is unsure when either player will be returning. However, Caldwell did not rule out Warford or Reid returning this preseason.
  1. Falcons wide receiver Roddy White did not play in Friday night's game against the New York Jets because of an elbow injury.
  1. Jets wide receiver Shaq Evans suffered a back injury during the first half of Friday's game and did not return. Wide receiver Jeremy Kerley, running back Daryl Richardson and safety Durell Eskridge each suffered concussions, Jets coach Todd Bowles said after the game.
  1. Chiefs linebacker Dee Ford might have suffered a fractured rib in the team's win over the Seattle Seahawks, Chiefs coach Andy Reid said.
