Injury roundup: Colts unsure about Addai's status

A look at the latest injury reports and updates from around in the league in Week 5.

» The devastating news the Texans didn't want to hear came to fruition Monday, when it was learned OLB Mario Williams will be out for the rest of the season because of a pectoral injury he suffered against the Raiders. The Houston Chronicle reports Williams will have season-ending surgery this week. ... Texans FB James Casey also left with a pectoral muscle injury.

» It also didn't look good for Colts RB Joseph Addai, who was sidelined early against the Chiefswith a hamstring injury. Coach Jim Caldwell wasn't certain about Addai's status following the game. "Obviously is was bad enough for him not come back in the game," Caldwell said. "So we will see how it does over the next 48 hours."

» Titans RB Chris Johnson didn't play late against the Steelers as a precaution after his hamstring felt "a little tight." Johnson said he was set to go back in, but the training staff didn't want him to go back in the game to "make anything worse." The Tennessean reported LB Colin McCarthysuffered a hamstring injury.

» Charlie Whitehurst finished the game in Seattle after QB Tarvaris Jackson was sidelined by a pectoral injury. Seahawks TE Zach Miller sustained a head injury but did return, while the team also lost LB LeRoy Hill (hamstring) and linebacker Jameson Konz (strained knee).

» Steelers RB Isaac Redman didn't return against the Titans after leaving during the fourth quarter with cramping in his leg. The Steelers also lost yet another offensive lineman, as RT Marcus Gilbert was sidelined during the second quarter by a left shoulder injury and was replaced by Jonathan Scott. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Gilbert suffered the only "significant" injury and no other players would be kept from practicing next week. He said Gilbert injured the same shoulder as he did in Week 3, and the team would continue to monitor him. "It's probably going to make him uncomfortable in the front part of the week," Tomlin said. "We'll be optimistic."

» Buffalo Bills WR Donald Jones is out indefinitely after he was carted off the field with a left ankle injury. "It's not a year, but it's going to be a while," Bills coach Chan Gailey said. A report from WGR Sports Radio said that Jones left the locker room on crutches.

» Adding injury to an insulting defensive performance against the Vikings, starting safety Kerry Rhodes didn't return after hurting his foot in the first quarter. Cardinals left guard Daryn Colledge also left the game during the third quarter after taking a blow to the head.

» Chiefs RB Le'Ron McClain injured his neck late in the first half against the Colts, according to the Associated Press.

» Jaguars CB Drew Coleman (head) and left tackle Eugene Monroe (shoulder) left the game against the Bengals and did not return.

» The only known injury for the Raiders was to TE Matt Giordano, who left against the Texans with a concussion.

» Two Giants -- starting RG Chris Snee and long snapper Zak DeOssie -- sustained concussions against the Seahawks. The Star-Ledger reported Snee would be hospitalized overnight for further observation.

» Buccaneers DT Gerald McCoy didn't return after he suffered what looked to be a serious ankle injury against the 49ers. Coach Raheem Morris didn't have an update on McCoy after the game.

» The Broncos lost safety Brian Dawkins to a neck injury after a collision in the end zone late during the first quarter in Denver.

» Already thin at receiver without Braylon Edwards, the 49ers watched WR Josh Morgan carted off the field with a right ankle injury during the fourth quarter against the Buccaneers. Comcast SportsNet Bay Area reported Morgan suffered a fractured ankle.

» Chargers RB Mike Tolbert was sidelined by a concussion during the second half against the Broncos. Ryan Mathews, who left during the first half with a calf strain and was taken to the locker room, was able to return but was noticeably absent during the last two drives. The San Diego Union-Tribune reported Mathews left Denver on crutches. "I think (Tolbert) came out alright," Chargers coach Norv Turner said. "I think (Mathews) will be fine. The bye week comes at a good time."

» It has to be a huge concern for the Packers that starting LT Chad Clifton had to be helped off the field during the second quarter of Sunday night's game with a right hamstring injury. Clifton wasn't able to put any weight on his right leg and was immediately carted off the sideline. Already playing without RT Bryan Bulaga, Marshall Newhouse moved to left tackle and rookie Derek Sherrod entered the game at right tackle.

» Among the injuries for the Falcons was CB Chris Owens, who suffered a head injury making a tackle on punt coverage and was ruled out of the game during the second quarter.
