Injury roundup: Pryor doubtful for Browns scrimmage

The Terrelle Pryor comeback story has hit a snag. Or tweak, rather.

The Cleveland Browns wide receiver tweaked his hamstring and sat out Wednesday's practice.

According to coach Mike Pettine, it's "doubtful" Pryor will in Friday's scrimmage at Ohio State -- where he would have returned for the first time since being banned from all contact with the university in 2011.

Pryor said Tuesday the tweak wasn't a big deal, but missing practice time for a player learning a new position is never a good thing. Hamstrings, in particular can be nagging, fickle beasts.

After nothing but glowing, shimmering, comically optimistic reports from Browns camp, this is the first hitch in the Pryor 2015 redemption story.

Here are some other injuries we are tracking:

  1. More injury news from Browns camp: linebacker Barkevious Mingomissed practice Wednesday with an injured knee. He will reportedly undergo an MRI. Pettine hasn't confirmed the nature of Mingo's injury yet, but will provide an update Thursday.
  1. We could just call this a hamstring tracker (#hamstringtracker). Carolina Panthers rookie linebacker Shaq Thompson has a tight hamstring. The first-round pick sat out of practice, but coach Ron Rivera said the team was just being cautions.
  1. Ravens rookie receiver Breshad Perriman (knee) is out at least another couple days, per John Harbaugh. He has not practiced since July 30.
  1. Sticking in Baltimore, wideout Marlon Brown underwent an MRI on his back. Brown is dealing with a nerve issue. Harbaugh said the receiver could miss some time. With two wideouts on the sideline, Kamar Aiken has grabbed hold of the starting gig opposite Steve Smith Sr.
  1. Bills running back Boobie Dixon pulled his calf muscle Monday and coach Rex Ryan said Wednesday that he could miss up to a month. Dixon called the injury a "minor setback", but it could prove a major impediment to winning a backup running back spot behind LeSean McCoy and Fred Jackson.
  1. Speaking of McCoy, coach Rex Ryan said the running back has sat out team drills the past two days with a toe issue. Ryan hopes McCoy will be fine by Saturday's scrimmage.
  1. Jaguars wide receiver Marqise Lee is being evaluated after sustaining a hamstring injury during Wednesday's practice, the team announced.
  1. Tevin Colemansat out Falcons practice Wednesday after straining his hamstring. Coach Dan Quinn said he hopes Coleman will be back on the field soon, but the rookie running back can't afford to miss much time. He still has an opportunity to unseat Devonta Freeman for the Falcons' starting gig.
  1. Giants linebacker Jameel McClainreportedly left practice Wednesday with a "stinger." McClain has a history of neck issues, so the Giants training staff is being careful with him.
  1. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday Cardinals wide receiver Michael Floydbroke three fingers on his left hand, per a source informed of the situation. Rapoport adds Floyd will be out six weeks, and will likely miss the start of the season.
