James Jones chooses Giants over other offers

After shopping his services around the league in June, veteran wide receiver James Jones finally has a new team.

Jones signed a one-year contract with the New York Giants, the team announced on Friday.

The nine-year veteran chose the Giants' offer over those from the Eagles, Chiefs, Seahawks and Bengals, per NFL Media Insider Rapoport.

Jones "loves" Giants offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo, Rapoport added, after the two spent seven years together in Green Bay.

Released by the Raiders in early May, Jones lasted just one year into the three-year, $11.3 million contract he signed in March of 2014.

The 31-year-old appeared to lose a step last season, failing to separate from coverage while managing a meager 9.1 yards per reception.

Although he offers veteran insurance with Victor Cruz returning from patellar tendon surgery, Jones won't be assured of a roster spot without a strong camp.

The G-Men have plenty of depth behind sophomore sensation Odell Beckham in the form of Cruz, late-season breakout star Rueben Randle, offseason standout Corey Washington and special teams ace Dwayne Harris.
