Here's a quick look at what each of the ACC's 14 teams need to focus on during fall camp.
Boston College
First practice: Aug. 5
Biggest concern: Establishing a ground attack. New coach Steve Addazio loves the power running game, but BC averaged only 90 rushing yards per game last season. QB Chase Rettig has some good targets, but unless BC has some balance, the offense once again will struggle (BC scored more than 20 points in a league game only twice in eight outings last season). The defense must get tougher against the run after finishing 11th in the league in rush defense in 2012.
Clemson
First practice: Aug. 2
Biggest concern: Rebuilding the secondary. No full-time starters return in the defensive backfield, and while the offense should be extremely productive, Clemson eventually is going to have to stop some people. Finding a consistent No. 2 receiver is important, too.
Duke
First practice: Aug. 5
Biggest concern: Overall defensive improvement is vital. Duke went to a bowl despite being pitiful on that side of the ball last season -- the Blue Devils allowed at least 41 points in six of their last seven games in 2012. CB Ross Cockrell is a big-timer, but the Blue Devils run a 4-2-5 set and he is the only returning starter in the secondary. Duke also needs to establish a pecking order at receiver after junior Jamison Crowder.
Florida State
First practice: Aug. 5
Biggest concern: How quickly new QB Jameis Winston, a redshirt freshman, feels comfortable running the offense. The Seminoles have few questions, but Winston -- who has the needed physical tools -- is the biggest. FSU also needs to establish a rotation at defensive end after losing Bjoern Werner and Cornellius Carradine.
Georgia Tech
First practice: Aug. 1
Biggest concern: New starting QB Vad Lee needs to show he can be an adequate passer. Coach Paul Johnson employs a triple-option attack, but the offense is at its best when the quarterback can make plays in the passing game. The defense should be fine under new coordinator Paul Roof, and LB-turned-DE Jeremiah Attaochu should become a true pass-rush force. But if Tech can't throw the ball just a little bit, this team will struggle to win six games.
Maryland
First practice: Aug. 5
Biggest concern: It certainly would help if starting QB C.J. Brown can stay healthy. The Terps went through quarterbacks like a newborn goes through diapers last season, with five different players starting games. Developing depth at linebacker is important. And it would behoove coach Randy Edsall to tell his offensive staff to get the ball to sophomore WR Stefon Diggs as often as possible.
Miami
First practice: Aug. 3
Biggest concern: Getting tougher -- much tougher -- on defense. The Hurricanes were brutal defensively last season -- they couldn't stop the run or the pass, and they couldn't rush the passer, either. Finding some corners who can cover is step one. Finding some linebackers who can make plays is step two. And finding some pass rushers is step three. There are no questions about the offense, but it will be interesting to see how new coordinator James Coley works with senior QB Stephen Morris.
North Carolina
First practice: Aug. 1
Biggest concern: Improving the pass defense. The offense has a lot of potential, and senior QB Bryn Renner should put up big numbers as he now fully understands coach Larry Fedora's offense. But the defense was strafed way too often last season, especially in the secondary. In their four losses last season, the Heels gave up an average of 49.5 points per game. Granted, that was skewed by the 68 they gave up to Georgia Tech, but Duke, Louisville and Wake Forest also put up big numbers.
North Carolina State
First practice: Aug. 2
Biggest concern: Finding a quarterback to run new coach Dave Doeren's offense. Colorado State transfer Pete Thomas, who has a big arm, transferred in to play for Tom O'Brien. Alas, O'Brien was fired and Thomas doesn't seem to be the best fit for what Doeren wants. Still, he's the most talented quarterback on the roster. The interior of the offensive line and the back seven on defense are being rebuilt.
Pittsburgh
First practice: Aug. 6
Biggest concern: Finding a quarterback. Is the well-traveled Tom Savage really the answer? The offensive line is being rebuilt and there is no proven featured back, which is going to make things harder for Savage. The good news: The defense looks fine.
Syracuse
First practice: Aug. 5
Biggest concern: Find a quarterback. Not much is expected of the Orange this season, but if an adequate quarterback emerges, the pieces are in place for a bowl appearance. Vast improvement is needed on special teams, too.
Virginia
First practice: Aug. 5
Biggest concern: Hoping sophomore David Watford can handle the quarterback job. While UVA threw the ball well last season, it couldn't run and struggled to score. The offensive staff has undergone a makeover, and if Watford plays well, the unit should be fine. Defensively, linebacker is a question mark. You also wonder if new coordinator Jon Tenuta, as blitz-happy a DC as there is in the nation, has enough playmakers.
Virginia Tech
First practice: Aug. 5
Biggest concern: Revving up the offense. It was bad last season. QB Logan Thomas struggled, and the offense became stagnant. The Hokies also need to find a featured back, break in four new starters on the offensive line and find some receivers. The defense should be one of the two or three best in the league.
Wake Forest
First practice: Aug. 2
Biggest concern: Finding more playmakers on offense. Senior WR Michael Campanaro has a chance to lead the ACC in receptions, but the Demon Deacons have no one else on offense who scares anybody. Plus, starting RB Josh Harris was ruled ineligible for the season, though Wake is hopeful that an appeal to the NCAA will be granted. The defense, which uses a 3-4 look, could be OK if the linebackers come through.
