Brock Purdy won't start Sunday but might be a step closer toward returning.
Purdy has only played in two games this season and hasn't seen the field since Week 4 due to a toe injury suffered in San Francisco's season-opening win in Seattle. Jones has replaced Purdy in the 49ers' six other games and largely handled the job well, winning four of his six starts while completing 65.9 percent of his passes for 1,597 yards and an 8-5 touchdown-to-interception ratio.
San Francisco has managed to weather an immense number of injuries through eight weeks, posting a 5-3 record that has them in the thick of the NFC West race despite playing without receivers Brandon Aiyuk and Ricky Pearsall (ruled out for Sunday) for the majority, if not all of the 2025 season.
We'll see if Jones can lead them to a bounce-back win Sunday after falling in Houston last weekend.
