Rams WR Gilyard undergoes minor wrist surgery

Rams wide receiver Mardy Gilyard had mid-January surgery to repair a wrist injury that bothered him throughout his rookie season, the *St. Louis Post-Dispatch* reported Monday.

Gilyard, a fourth-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft out of Cincinnati, had surgery to place pins in the joint.

"He had it when he came here," Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo said of Gilyard's injury. "I think he had it in Cincinnati.

"He battled the thing all season long. He had to put that little brace he had on it."

The Rams hope Gilyard, who had six receptions this season, can participate in offseason workouts.

The Post-Dispatch also reported that four other Rams players have had minor offseason operations: cornerback Ron Bartell (bone spurs in foot), linebacker Chris Chamberlain (ankle), defensive end Chris Long (thumb) and cornerback Jerome Murphy (finger).
