Ravens QB Lamar Jackson (ankle) out vs. Falcons; Tyler Huntley to start

There was reportedly an outside chance Lamar Jackson could play in Week 5.

Now there's zero chance as Jackson has been ruled out ahead of the Baltimore Ravens' game against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night, head coach Jesse Minter announced on Friday.

Tyler Huntley will start in place of Jackson. Minter also ruled out defensive end Trey Hendrickson for Week 5 due to a finger injury.

Jackson injured his ankle during the Ravens' Week 4 win over the Tennessee Titans. On Monday, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Jackson did not sustain a long-term injury, but the chance of him playing versus the Falcons was slim.

With the two-time AP NFL MVP being a non-participant at practice throughout the week, Jackson's designation is hardly unexpected. Just how much time he'll miss will now be the prevailing question.

First, though, Huntley will take the reins against a red-hot Falcons team. It's hardly an unfamiliar situation for "Snoop," who will make his 12th start for Baltimore.

Huntley is in his sixth season with the Ravens and his second stint, having played with the club from 2020-23 and rejoining them in 2025 after a year with the Miami Dolphins.

Huntley is 7-9 in his career as a starter, 5-6 with the Ravens and 2-3 for the Fins.

In relief of Jackson against the Titans, Huntley was 8 of 9 for 63 yards.

Since Jackson took over as the club's starter in Week 11 of the 2018 season, he's produced a 79-32 record as a starter, while Baltimore has gone 6-11 without him.

Jackson has missed multiple games in three previous seasons, including four last year when Baltimore failed to make the playoffs.

Huntley and the Ravens (3-1) kick off against the host Falcons (2-2) at 8:20 p.m. ET on Sunday.
