Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers (left wrist) limited in return to practice on Thursday

Aaron Rodgers returned to practice on Thursday, one day after telling reporters that he hoped to test out his injured wrist after missing Wednesday's session.

The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback took the field for Thursday's session wearing what appeared to be a brace on his left wrist and participated in individual drills, taking his reps from shotgun instead of under center, according to ESPN's Brooke Pryor.

Rodgers was officially listed as a limited participant.

Rodgers sat out Wednesday's practice as he recovers from a fractured left wrist suffered in the first half of the Steelers' Week 11 win over Cincinnati last Sunday.

Rodgers told reporters on Wednesday that he spent that day receiving treatment and participating in rehab with trainers with the hope to return to the field, adding that his ability to play this Sunday against the Bears was more of a safety issue than one of pain tolerance.

If Rodgers cannot play Sunday in Chicago, backup Mason Rudolph will replace him in the starting lineup. The veteran did an admirable job in relief of Rodgers in the second half last week, completing 12 of 16 passes for 127 yards and a touchdown in the 34-12 triumph.
