Tennessee met with quarterback prospect Shedeur Sanders' camp following Colorado's Friday pro day and agreed to cancel his previously scheduled private workout, per Titans senior writer Jim Wyatt.
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday that Sanders and his teammate Travis Hunter were slated for a workout with the team on April 9.
The Titans will instead keep their evaluation of Sanders to previous games scouted, game film and the aforementioned pro day, which included Sanders firing off 60-plus throws with only four incompletions.
"Shedeur threw the ball well, and we got to see him out there with Travis," Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi said following Friday's session, via the team site. "And Travis, everything you see on film -- he is one of the twitchiest athletes I've ever seen. He's impressive. It was good to see Shedeur go through the whole workout, and the two-minute drill after. It just confirms a lot of stuff you saw on tape -- he can drive the deep ball, you saw that here today.
"So, it was a really good workout."
The Titans are currently in the driver's seat with the No. 1 pick in the draft less than three weeks away.
In need of a quarterback, Sanders is one of the top options available to them.
He spent four years playing college ball, all under his father Deion Sanders. In his first two seasons at Jackson State, Shedeur threw for 6,963 yards, 70 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He took a step up facing a leap forward in competition moving to the Big 12. From 2023-24 under center in Colorado, Sanders amassed 7,364 yards, 64 TDs and 13 INTs. He notably posted career highs his senior season with a 74 completion percentage and 4,134 passing yards -- both of which led the conference, along with his 37 TDs.
Cancelling a private workout doesn't set in stone Tennessee's decision to look elsewhere come April 24. But the Titans certainly could feel they've seen all they need to, enough to move forward with another QB prospect like Cam Ward, who is commonly mocked to them at first overall. There's also still time for a trade to materialize. During draft season, nothing is certain until the card is turned in.
