2022 NFL season, Week 3: Notable injuries, news from Sunday's games

Injuries and news we're monitoring around the league on this Week 3 Sunday:

  • Arizona Cardinals offensive lineman Justin Pugh (elbow), defensive tackle Rashard Lawrence (hand) and linebacker Zaven Collins (shoulder) left the game and did not return against the Rams. Wide receiver A.J. Green suffered and knee injury and was ruled out in the third quarter.
  • Baltimore Ravens left tackle Patrick Mekari (ankle), pass rusher Justin Houston (groin) and defensive tackle Michael Pierce (arm) were ruled out against New England.
  • Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen went to the X-ray room following the game against Miami but said he was "fine." Cornerback Christian Benford (hand) left the game and did not return. Receiver Jake Kumerow (ankle) and tackle Spencer Brown (illness) were also ruled out.
  • Carolina Panthers cornerback Donte Jackson (neck) left the game and did not return against New Orleans.
  • Chicago Bears running back David Montgomery (knee/ankle) and receiver Byron Pringle (calf) suffered injuries in the first quarter and did not return against the Texans.
  • Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle D.J. Reader suffered a left knee injury against the Jets and was ruled out.
  • Dallas Cowboys linebacker Luke Gifford (hamstring) was added to the injury report ahead of Monday's game against the Giants. He is questionable to play.
  • Denver Broncos linebacker Baron Browning (knee) and defensive lineman D.J. Jones (head) left the game and did not return against San Francisco.
  • Detroit Lions safety Tracy Walker (ankle) was ruled out against the Vikings in the second quarter.
  • Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander suffered a groin injury in the first quarter against Tampa Bay and was later ruled out of the game.
  • Las Vegas Raiders cornerbacks Nate Hobbs (concussion) and Rock Ya-Sin (knee) left the game and did not return against Tennessee.
  • Los Angeles Chargers pass rusher Joey Bosa (groin) was ruled out against Jacksonville. Offensive tackle Rashawn Slater (biceps) also left the game and did not return.
  • Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa returned against Buffalo after briefly exiting with a back injury. Tackle Greg Little suffered a finger injury and did not return.
  • Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook (shoulder) was ruled out against the Lions in the fourth quarter. Cook suffered a dislocated shoulder, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported. Cook has an unrepaired labral tear and was not wearing a harness, but the hope is that he can wear one and play next Sunday against the Saints, per Pelissero.
  • New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones left the game against Baltimore late in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury. NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported that Jones is believed to have suffered a high ankle sprain and will undergo an MRI on Monday. He is likely to miss time. Defensive lineman Lawrence Guy (shoulder) was ruled out. Defensive back Jalen Mills (hamstring) also left the game and did not return.
  • New Orleans Saints offensive lineman Andrus Peat (concussion) was ruled out against Carolina. Receivers Jarvis Landry (ankle) and Michael Thomas (foot) also left the game and did not return.
  • New York Jets receiver Garrett Wilson exited with a ribs injury, but returned against the Bengals. Offensive tackle George Fant suffered a knee injury and did not return. Linebacker Quincy Williams was carted off with an ankle injury and also did not return.
  • San Francisco 49ers left tackle Trent Williams (ankle) was ruled out against Denver. Linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair (knee) also left the game and did not return.
  • Seattle Seahawks running back Travis Homer (ribs) was ruled out against Atlanta.
