Offseason injury news came early for the Buffalo Bills.
The team announced on Thursday that backup offensive tackle Cyrus Kouandjio suffered a non-football injury to his hip after falling at his home. The 6-foot-7, 322-pound, 23-year-old underwent successful surgery on Wednesday and is expected to be ready for training camp, the Bills said in the press release.
Kouandjio has been mostly a disappointment since being drafted in the second-round in 2014. He started five games in 2016, filling in at left tackle when Cordy Glenn was out with injury.
Last May, Bills GM Doug Whaley said it would be a disappointment if Kouandjio didn't win the right tackle gig. He lost out to Jordan Mills.
Entering the final year of his rookie deal, missing all offseason workouts prior to Training Camp hurts Kouandjio's chances of earning playing time and could eventually hasten the end of the offensive tackle's career in Buffalo.
