Broncos OLBs coach Michael Wilhoite arrested on charge of second degree assault to police officer

Broncos outside linebackers coach Michael Wilhoite was arrested and booked into the Denver downtown detention center on Feb. 22 for second degree assault of a police officer, according to jail records.

Wilhoite was not allowed bond, and is currently scheduled to appear in Denver County Court on Monday.

Wilhoite has served as Denver's OLBs coach the past two seasons. He began his coaching career under Sean Payton, then with the Saints, as a New Orleans special teams assistant in 2019 and defensive assistant in 2020. Wilhoite also coached linebackers for the Los Angeles Chargers from 2021-22.

Prior to his coaching career, Wilhoite played six NFL seasons at linebacker split between the San Francisco 49ers (2012-16) and Seattle Seahawks (2018). He appeared in 79 games with 45 starts.
