The Washington Commanders offense had its worst statistical output in 22 games with Jayden Daniels under center in Thursday night's 27-18 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
The Micah Parsons-led Packers defense smothered Washington, restricting the pocket for Daniels and not allowing wideouts free releases or open space.
"I think they played better than us," Daniels said after the loss, via The Washington Post. "There's not really much to say."
The defeat said plenty about the Packers' Super Bowl-caliber defense.
The 18-point output tied for the fewest the Commanders put up in a Daniels start. Washington also accumulated the fewest total yards (230), yards per play (3.5), rush yards (51) and first downs (15) with the young phenom under center.
Daniels finished 24-of-42 passing for 200 yards with two passing TDs and zero interceptions for an 85.4 passer rating. Green Bay hemmed in the elusive quarterback, allowing just 17 rushing yards, the second-fewest of his career. Washington fell to 0-4 when Daniels generates fewer than 25 rushing yards (13-2 with 25-plus rush yards).
"It's nothing to dwell about," Daniels said. "It's early in the season. I wouldn't expect anybody in this locker room to hit a panic button. We faced a really good team, and we came up short, so we move on to the next game."
The 230-yard output doesn't begin to tell the story of Thursday's loss. Through three quarters, Washington generated 112 yards of offense and put up three points.
Thursday was about as lopsided as you'll find a nine-point affair.
