Commanders QB Jayden Daniels (knee) practices fully, plans to play Sunday vs. Chargers

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels is on his way back to action.

Daniels practiced fully on Wednesday for the first time in two weeks and told reporters that he plans to play on Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Daniels has missed the Commanders' last two contests with a knee injury. He practiced on a limited basis last week but wasn't cleared to play. Daniels was seen by local reporters wearing a brace during Wednesday's practice, similar to the previous week.

"I'm not the biggest fan of it, but if that's what I have to wear, I'll do anything," Daniels said, via The Athletic. "But we'll have to see on Sunday."

Getting in a full practice early in the week is a good sign the star quarterback will return Week 5, barring a setback.

"He'll get all the reps at the practice," Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said prior to Wednesday's session. "He'll be back full speed, the execution, the timing, all of that. That's really what I'm looking for, but he's definitely champing at the bit to get going."

The Commanders went 1-1 with Marcus Mariota under center.

Quinn also relayed positive news regarding several other injured Commanders, wide receivers Terry McLaurin (quad), Noah Brown (groin, knee) and tight end John Bates (calf, groin).

"All are trending up. … We're making good progress with those guys," Quinn said.

We'll see where the Washington injuries are at later in the week, but at 2-2, getting at least Daniels back this week would be a positive against a good Chargers defense.
