McVay initially told reporters on Tuesday that Stafford was dealing with a sore back and would start camp in a limited capacity, working off to the side. He added Saturday on NFL Network that the end goal is Stafford being healthy for Week 1, they'll go week by week in terms of practice availability and it doesn't make sense to rush him back.
