As fate would have it, Drew Lock and Russell Wilson are switching places again.
Lock has agreed to terms to rejoin the Seattle Seahawks, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported Friday.
Originally drafted by the Denver Broncos, Lock was traded to the Seahawks back in 2022 as part of a package in exchange for Wilson.
Now, Lock is leaving the New York Giants, whom he played for in 2024, as Big Blue has added Wilson and Jameis Winston this offseason.
Lock, taken 42nd overall in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Broncos, should slide in behind Seahawks starter Sam Darnold. Currently behind Darnold on the roster are Sam Howell and Jaren Hall.
The 28-year-old has 28 starts over six years with three teams. He's thrown for 34 touchdowns, 28 interceptions and 6,354 yards with a 10-18 record as a starter. Last year for the Giants, he started five games -- going 1-4 -- with six TD passes, five INTs and 1,071 yards. Included in those numbers was a sterling showing in which he led Big Blue past the Indianapolis Colts and scored five total touchdowns.
Lock has proven to be a viable backup who can catch lightning in a spot start. He showed that a time or two in Seattle and is now headed back to the Seahawks to serve as Darnold's understudy.
