A number of NFL teams scoured the waiver wire to see what talent was available following yesterday's cutdown deadline.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported that, over the past 10 years, the average number of post-cutdown waiver claims league-wide was 41. The lack of preseason games and limited offseason workouts are the primary reasons for why Sunday's 17 claims are a far cry from that figure. The following players were claimed as follows:
- Atlanta Falcons: T Timon Parris (from Washington)
- Carolina Panthers: DB Rasul Douglas and DE Shareef Miller (from Philadelphia), T Trenton Scott (from L.A. Chargers)
- Cincinnati Bengals: G Deion Calhoun (from Miami)
- Cleveland Browns: DE Joe Jackson (from Dallas), DT Vincent Taylor (from Buffalo)
- Dallas Cowboys: WR Malik Turner (from Green Bay)
- Indianapolis Colts: TE Noah Togiai (from Philadelphia)
- Los Angeles Rams: LB Justin Hollins (from Denver)
- Minnesota Vikings: LB Ryan Connelly (from N.Y. Giants)
- New York Giants: T Jackson Barton and Adrian Colbert (from Kansas City), WR Damion Ratley (from Cleveland)
- Philadelphia Eagles: RB Jason Huntley (from Detroit)
- Pittsburgh Steelers: Josh Dobbs (from Jacksonville)
- Seattle Seahawks: LB D'Andre Walker (from Tennessee)
Among the notable omissions from this list are LB Shaquem Griffin, who was added to the Seahawks' practice squad, CB Sidney Jones and WRs Ryan Switzer and Hakeem Butler.

- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are signing QB Josh Rosen to their practice squad, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo and Tom Pelissero reported per informed sources. The Bucs made their signing of running back Leonard Fournette official. They also re-signed center A.Q. Shipley, who they cut Saturday. In addition, Tampa Bay placed wide receiver John Hurst and guard John Molchon on Injured Reserve (minor designation).
- The Eagles plan to sign 41-year-old QB Josh McCown to their practice squad, Pelissero reported. He added that the move gives Philly an insurance policy in the event of injury and allows McCown, who has aspirations of being a coach, to gain on-the-job training, albeit virtually, while living at home in Texas. The Eagles also placed safety Will Parks and wide receiver Quez Watkins on IR and released cornerback Cre'Von LeBlanc.
- The Miami Dolphins are adding troubled receiver Antonio Callaway to their practice squad, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, per a source.
- The Panthers waived offensive tackle Matt Kaskey, safety Kenny Robinson and fan favorite defensive end Efe Obada to make room for waiver claims.
- The Las Vegas Raiders are signing linebacker Javin White to their practice squad, Garafolo reported. White drew praise from the coaching staff in camp, he added. Running back Dare Ogunbowale, who was released by the Bucs on Saturday, is visiting the Raiders, per Rapoport. The Raiders released guard Eric Kush off IR with an injury settlement. The team also placed LB Tanner Muse (toe) on IR in hopes that he'll be able to return this season, Pelissero reported, per an informed source. Muse is likely to miss at least a month.
- The Buffalo Bills are expected to sign former Packers WR and fan favorite Jake Kumerow to their practice squad, Pelissero reported per an informed source.
- The Steelers have waived QB Duck Hodges and safety Curtis Riley after claiming Dobbs and signing safety Sean Davis.
- The Bengals are re-signing QB Brandon Allen to their practice squad and waiving guard Alex Redmond, Pelissero reported per informed sources.
- In response to their waiver claims, the Giants have released receiver Corey Coleman and offensive lineman Chade Slade, and waived safety Sean Chandler. New York also placed safety Xavier McKinney and linebacker David Mayo on IR and signed tight end Eric Tomlinson and defensive back Brandon Williams.
- The Browns waived defensive tackle Eli Ankou and tight end Pharoah Brown.
- A day after Deebo Samuel was activated from the non-football injury list, 49ers general manager John Lynch said the second-year wide receiver "has a shot" to play in next week's season opener, per the team website. Lynch added he hopes to have clarity on Samuel's status after upcoming discussions with his surgeon and the team physician. Samuel has been sidelined since breaking his foot in June. San Francisco announced it has released wide receiver J.J. Nelson off IR with an injury settlement.
- The Seahawks waived defensive back Linden Stephens.
- The Indianapolis Colts placed defensive tackle Sheldon Day on IR and signed offensive tackle Chaz Green.
- The Tennessee Titans signed running back Senorise Perry and cornerback Chris Milton. They placed safety Dane Cruikshank on IR and offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
- The Rams are signing rookie running back Raymond Calais to their 53-man roster off Tampa Bay's practice squad, Pelissero reported. The Bucs drafted Calais in the seventh round.
- The Detroit Lions signed offensive lineman Oday Aboushi and placed cornerback Mike Ford on IR.
