Giants WR Malik Nabers believed to have suffered torn ACL vs. Chargers

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers is believed to have suffered a torn ACL in Sunday's 21-18 win over the Los Angeles Chargers, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported, per sources.

Nabers appeared to hurt his knee as he was jumping up for a ball from Jaxson Dart down the sideline midway through the second quarter. The Giants WR grimaced in pain on the turf holding his right knee following the play, which was an incompletion negated by an offsides penalty on the Chargers.

He was quickly carted to the locker room before eventually being ruled out after halftime. New York held a 10-3 lead over the visiting Chargers at the time of Nabers' exit.

Nabers' day ended with two receptions for 20 yards. He led the team in receiving going into Week 4, entering Sunday's game with 16 catches for 251 yards and two TDs.

Giants coach Brian Daboll did not offer an update on Nabers' status after the game.

"Injuries happen. Certainly not happy about it, whether it's Malik or anybody else," Daboll said. "Unfortunately, this is a business of injury. I feel terrible for Malik's injury, we'll see where it's at. He's an important piece of our team, but the guys that play behind him... Everybody gets paid to do a job. It's next man up"

It's a brutal development on an afternoon that was supposed to be a celebration of Dart's first career start.

The first-round pick led a nine-play, 89-yard scoring drive on the first possession of his first start, connecting with Nabers twice before finding the end zone on a 15-yard run. Dart finished 13-of-20 passing for 111 yards and a touchdown pass to tight end Theo Johnson. Darius Slayton was Dart's leading receiver with three catches for 44 yards.

Nabers, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 draft, had an electric rookie season last year during which he made the Pro Bowl after catching 109 passes for 1,204 yards with seven touchdowns.
