Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News reported Friday that White plans to work out for the Giants in New Jersey next week. That assumes, of course, White doesn't sign with the 49ers in the meantime (probably a safe assumption).
The arrival of the read-option offense appears to be aiding White's comeback attempt, as NFL teams look for a changeup at quarterback. The Giants obviously are set up well with Eli Manning and backup David Carr, but White potentially could fit in as a No. 3 quarterback because of his versatility.
It's probably not a great sign for Vince Young that White is getting more interest on the open market at this point. Young also would love to catch on as a mobile backup who can give defenses something to prepare for.
UPDATE:The New York Daily News reported Tuesday that White has canceled plans to visit the Giants.
