Todd Haley sends Pittsburgh Steelers a message

Pittsburgh Steelers President Art Rooney voiced his concern with the team's running game by dumping offensive coordinator Bruce Arians. As Kurt Warner can tell you, new hire Todd Haley is not afraid to spread teams out. Haley also is not afraid to shove the ball down your throat when the situation dictates, like when he with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Haley sent a blunt message to his bosses and players about his vision for "Steelers football" during the team's first padded practice over the weekend.

It was a good weekend for ...
1. Randall Cobb -- one of my favorite breakout candidates -- turns heads daily at Green Bay Packers training camp. Coach Mike McCarthy lines Cobb up all over the field, including at running back. I'd be stunned if Cobb doesn't have a bigger role on the Packers' offense compared to Donald Driver and James Jones.

  1. New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram and Chris Ivory survived the weekend without getting hurt. There isn't a deeper and more versatile backfield in the NFL than the Saints' four-pronged attack with Ingram, Ivory, Darren Sproles and Pierre Thomas. (If they stay healthy.)
  1. I am driving the Kansas City Chiefs bandwagon because of all their under-30 talent. Seeing Jamaal Charles, Eric Berry, and Tony Moeakiall back on the field together should give general manager Scott Pioli a warm feeling inside.

Aggressive Jim Harbaugh Quote of the Day
Harbaugh made an unprompted, unscheduled trip to the podium Sunday to deliver a message about first-round receiver A.J. Jenkins.

"For those -- the scribes, pundits, so-called experts -- who have gone so far as to say that (he's) going to be a bust, should just stop. I recommend that because they're making themselves look more clueless than they already did," Harbaugh said.

Thank you, Jim Harbaugh, for not being another head coaching drone. Have no fear: You can't possibly be more sensitive to media criticism than Bill Walsh. It worked out pretty well for him.

The biggest story in the NFL right now …
The Cleveland Browns are about to rebuild. Again. Their potential sale is the biggest thing to happen in training camps so far. It's such a fascinating story, it couldn't be contained in Monday's training camp morning buzz. (So I already posted something this morning on Mike Holmgren's uncertain future. Check it out, won't you?)

Not a good weekend for ...
1. Absolutely loved this tweet about Antonio Brown's contract extension:
